Editing Process:
For my response to the theme of 'Society' I decided to focus the majority of my editing process on my uses of lighting, colour and tones in order to alter the lighting and colour scales within my photographs so that specific areas of my photography stand out and become focal points for my target audience. Since I decided to use selective colouring and starkly contrasted monochromatic tones I feel like I was able to create intriguing focal points within my photographs to document the grit and grime of these city societal environments and how we as the human race can have both a negative and positive impact on our societies such as litter, graffiti, street art, construction and demolishment. By focusing my photographic series on the grit and grime of city life and human impact within a society I feel that I am able to create influential and impactful imagery that will hopefully inspire a change of people's minds and perspectives on the societies they live in and have grown up in.
A lot of my editing processes for this series of photographic responses will be mostly digital, focusing on the formal elements of lighting, colour, tones in order to alter and edit the colour scales of my photographs to emphasize the grit and grime of city life in specific societal environments in order to create photographic pieces that will emphasize the perspective and highlight the human impact on the societies that we live in and how we can have both negative and positive impacts on the society around us such as, graffiti, street art, litter and the demolishment and construction of buildings.

Chosen Photos Analysis.
Chosen Photos Analysis.
In response to the theme of 'Society' I decided to create a response that would be focused on the different environments and societies that I was born in and grew up in throughout my life in order to show how we are constantly changing and damaging the society and world that we live in. By using a documentary style combined with landscape photography of urban and rural environments I felt that this would be the most effective way of producing photographs based around my chosen themes that would portray an impactful perspective on the human impact we all cause and can change through how we treat our society such as litter, graffiti, street art, demolishment of buildings and construction. In order to influence this perspective further I decided to take my photographs for this series using a lower camera angles (taking shots from the ground) and using leading lines to draw my target audience’s attention and focus to specific areas within my imagery.
In order to emphasize my chosen themes, focal points and subject matters I have decided that I will experiment with creating black and white imagery with selective colouring and hints of original colours from the landscapes that have been documented in order to draw attention to specific areas of focus within my photographic series. Considering that I will also be combining this editing techniques with monochromatic tones I have also decided to experiment with using said black and white tones to emphasize the grit and grime that is often found within city societies and environments.
By creating and documenting these styles of photographs I intend on raising awareness of the human impact and the changes – both negative and positive – that we all can have on our society, whether that’s through littering, graffiti, street art, demolishment of buildings and construction. By doing this I hope to challenge people’s perspectives on our negative and positive impact on the societies and environments that we live in and how we could potentially work to make changes on how we treat our society and what makes it into the societal environment that we know and live in and how it could potentially be improved upon one day to make it better for future generations of the human race.
